2018 was a big year for me. I began the year by trying new things - a new job, a new focus my health and wellness, new hobbies, and a new passion for life. As I found 2018 drawing to a close, I knew that I wanted to end the year with something really big, a goal that I had had for myself since the I had started practicing yoga a few years ago. I wanted to get my Yoga Teacher Certification.
When I signed up and started my yoga teacher certification, I had two main objectives: (1) deepen my yoga practice and (2) to complete the goal I had set for myself to get my yoga teacher certification.
What happened next, was more than I could have ever imagined. Yoga teacher training was truly a transformative experience that transcended my original goal to deepen my yoga practice and check a box. While I was able to gain a deeper understanding of the postures (asanas), teacher training helped me get in touch with some of the more spiritual, emotional, and mental benefits that yoga has to offer. I found myself connecting with my breath, my movement, and my inner thoughts. I even started feeling more comfortable and confident with myself both on and off the mat. And not only was I more comfortable with myself, I found myself gaining a better understanding of community, gratitude, and learning how to apply the principles of yoga to many aspects of my life.

Yoga teacher training was truly the beginning of a journey - a journey of self, through the self, to the self.
I look forward to sharing some of the lessons that I learned through teacher training and how I continue to deepen my yoga practice both on and off the mat through the next several blog posts. I invite you to engage in a dialogue, ask questions, and join me as I continue to deepen my practice of life and find and maintain my own sense of balance.
